糖心视频 (PCC) inducted four new members into the College鈥檚 Alpha Upsilon Theta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) International Honor Society on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 for the 2024-2025 academic year.

The new members include:

Kaitlyn Acosta, Bryson Gregory, Jeremiah Senegal and Carrie Webster.

During the induction ceremony, PTK co-advisors Walter Montgomery, Dean, Learning Commons and Educational Partnerships; Dr. Chandler Fry, Instructor, English; and Kailey Oakley, Coordinator, College High School Programs, welcomed the inductees into the honor society.

“The Fall 2024 induction ceremony was a special occasion to celebrate the academic achievements and leadership potential of our four new members,鈥 Oakley said.  鈥淧hi Theta Kappa is dedicated to recognizing student excellence and fostering opportunities for scholarship, leadership, service and fellowship. We are thrilled to welcome these outstanding students and look forward to seeing the incredible contributions they will make to our chapter and the broader community.”

Kirklyn Owen, PTK President and Paige Jay, PTK Vice President also welcomed the inductees and gave a brief history of PTK along with the meanings of the honor society鈥檚 symbols and meanings of the Greek words phronimon, thumos and katharotes, which stand for wisdom, aspiration, and purity.

Dr. Barbara Buchanan, PCC鈥檚 Vice President of Instruction/Chief Academic Officer, offered brief remarks to inductees about the importance of leadership and using PTK as a vehicle to help others through volunteer opportunities.

鈥淭ake it upon yourself to have a leadership role and make things happen,鈥 Buchanan said. 鈥淵ou鈥檙e going to gain invaluable experience in leadership, but you鈥檙e also going to be inspiring others and showing them how it鈥檚 done.鈥

PCC is actively assisting eligible students in becoming a member of this prestigious International Honor Society by offering partial financial assistance for the membership fee. Students complete an application, and they are required to pay a portion of the membership fee, if selected.
